I am also considering just buying an EQ so that I can have more flexibility with my tone. The unit is in very good physical condition but has not been tested and is being sold As-Is with no returns.

The lights on it add more of a dynamic visually than the audio from what I can tell. Had this originally when it first came out in the 80’s.

Probably not that great. Worst thing was music with a high level of background noise, like tape hiss. Note, I find that overuse of expanders can make the mix sound unnatural where you can hear audible jumps and reductions in volumes in places where they should not occur. Not sure what you mean by “lows” and “highs”.
I dnx what I did with it but I hope it’s still giving someone a light show at least. I have a 4BX sitting here in my stack of unused gear. My lows were lower and my highs were higher.
